Critters vs Gremlins? (two songs)

I don't know how many times this question has been brought up in movie aficionado circles, but I'm posing the question now. Who would win if it was an all out battle between the Critters and the Gremlins? Since many of you visiting this blog are fans of these types of flicks let me know your input. This is not very scientific, but more just a question for me to get a general idea of the popularity and fan base for the creatures/franchises.

I've always preferred the Critters myself, they always seemed a little cooler, and maybe it was those darts they could shoot and the rolling around like tumbleweed that I loved. Who knows!

Since this blog has a number of soundtrack downloads, I have a couple songs to go with this post. One track from Gremlins 2 (End Credits) and one from Critters (Critter Skitter). I recently got the Critters score from the Soundtrack Lovers Paradise, so hats off to him for getting me that one. Please give me some feedback on this question. THANKS and Happy Holidays!

Tangerine Dream - Love On A Real Train (single track)

I love Tangerine Dream's themes from all the movies they've worked on and this track is by far one of my all time favorites. This track was for the 1983 film "Risky Business" and appears on the soundtrack as well. Not much more I can say then it's a fantastic track, download it NOW!

"My name is Joel Goodson. I deal in human fulfillment. I grossed over eight thousand dollars in one night. 'Time of your life, huh kid?' ".

Clint Mansell - Stay With Me (Fountain Remix)

The Fountain soundtrack is now out for the new Darren Aronofsky flick. The score is by Clint Mansell. On the offiical Fountain site Clint has the track "Stay With Me" available in seperate musical parts to allow people to download and remix it into their own vision. You can then post your remix on the site and vote for the best ones. There are also video and images to download to create a music video/trailer using your new mix.

I love messing around with music and trying to do remixes, so this could be fun. If any of you are interested in playing with music definitely check this out! If I end up posting a remix I'll put it up here on the blog later on.

Star Wars - Christmas In The Stars (full album)

Since it's December and this is a movie music related blog what better album to post than, the Star Wars Christmas album "Christmas In The Stars". I'm not sure how sought after this, but I thought some of you would enjoy adding this to your album collections.

I love gettting a bunch of random Christmas music and this is by far, the strangest sounding stuff I have, what the hell were they thinking? The track "What do You get a Wookie For Christmas" says it all! This might fall into that "so bad, it's good" category. Enjoy.

RE-UP: Charles Berstein - Deadly Friend
(full score/soundtrack)

Todays post is the complete score to the Wes Craven film "Deadly Friend". This was performed/composed by Charles Berstein, composer of "A Nightmare On Elm Street". This is a pretty good score from Charles, not as good as Elm St. but pretty enjoyable.

Deadly Friend was the follow up film to Craven's a Nightmare on Elm Street and while the movie wasn't nearly as classic as Nightmare, it had some originality to it even if that meant the plot was based on the off the wall idea of putting a robot's "brain" into a dead girl.

"Hey, she's dead? Hey, what the hell are you doing, you didn't say anything about a dead body, we were supposed to save her life!"

Legend - Intro Theme (single track)

Here is the into theme from the movie Legend by Tangerine Dream. I have the U.S. Varese Sarabande release of the album, which I was disspointed didn't contain this theme, my favorite in the whole movie. It's the track that plays when there is text moving over the screen explaining the world Legend takes place in. I have created a DVD rip of this track. Enjoy!

The release I have is the 11 track album. If anyone is interested in having me post the full soundtrack let me know.

The Hithcer (remake) - Trailer video

MSN has posted a trailer of the re-make to The Hitcher. I have to say the original is one of my all time favorite horror/thrillers of all time. Watching this preview I asked "why?... why remake this?". I don't get the motivation here, plus they changed the plot to being a boy and a girl right off the bat rather than the way it was in the original with C.Thomas Howell's character traveling by himself. I thought his character being by himself and meeting Ryder has much more intense fear because he's all alone in the car. Anyway, check it out and make your own judgment. If this is anything like the quality of the TCM remake its going to suck.

Neon Maniacs - End Theme

Here is a DVD rip of the end credits track to Neon Maniacs. I don't know who actually performed this instrumental, but it's got 80s cheese written all over it. It is hilarious in that it doesn't fit the gory monster movie it was attached to. It sounds more like some elevator type of music that you would here in JC Penny's in 1985. YET... I LOVE IT!

I've yet to actually find a real soundtrack to this movie, even though the credits claim it's available on record and cassette.

Paul Herzog - Bloodsport (score)

Today I have a full album. Here is Paul Herzog's score to the Van Damme "classic" Bloodsport. It also features the two songs "Fight To Survive" and "On My Own - Alone".

However, the album versions of those two tracks are performed by Paul Delph, the movie features Stan Bush singing those songs. So as an added bonus I threw in the Stan Bush "Fight to Survive" track I ripped from the DVD. Why you ask? Frankly, I perfer the movie version of the track.

"You break my record, now I break you... like I break your friend!"

Breakin' - 2 tracks from the series of films

Here are two of the best tracks from the "Breakin'" flicks. Ollie & Jerry's "Breakin" and George Kranz's "Dinn Daa Daa". If you are a fan of the 80s, I'm sure you'll enjoy these tracks!

They sound pretty dated, but classic! It might be time for me to bust out the Fila jumpsuit and some cardboard and get breakin'!!

Download both of them here.

Goblin - Jennifer (from Phenomena)

Here is the song "Jennifer" performed by Goblin from the film Phenomena. This is actually a rip I made from the DVD which has the video for this song as well. I haven't been able to acquire the actual album yet, so I've had to be content with this. Check out the movie if you haven't seen it. Hope you like the track.

Greetings!

I'm going to begin trying to put more posts in my blog on a more consistent basis. This blog I hope will become a supplement to a movie review site I'm working on. As that gets closer to completion I will have some updates.

So now you know my interest is in movies. I'll post mostly entertaiment type/related stuff here, but there will always be some random stuff I find that I think you should all know. I know right now (ALL is probably 2 people if that).

I would like to say that I love the blogs that have been dedicated to out-of-print soundtracks. Those are amazing and the people who keep them going, my hats off to them. Keep up the great work! One of them is Rare and OOP soundtracks: http://italianhorror.blogspot.com/ . Great stuff there.
