Re-up (1-9-08) for reader LivingDeadGirl!
Here is Paul McCollough's score to the "Night of the Living Dead" remake from director Tom Savini. The score has some nice cues in it, my favorite track is "Passage to Normal". This is one of those strange remakes that I don't hate, but I don't love either. I just enjoyed it from the perspective of seeing what Tom Savini could do with the NOTLD idea and what modern make-up effects could bring to this story. From a make-up perspective I really like the look of the zombies in this one as opposed to the ones seen in Dawn of the Dead (original) and Day of the Dead (original). Not that those movies aren't classics. Anyway enough of my rambling on about the flick. What about the score?
From what I've researched this was a soundtrack released a few years back and limited to 3000 individually numbered copies, so from a collectors standpoint, there are not many out there. Also Paul McCollough actually re-recorded the score for this CD release. He had the original masters from what was used in the film, but felt he could improve on what he did originally, so this is release is the reworked score. "They" say that even a hard core fan of the film and soundtrack would have a hard time telling apart the film soundtrack from this verision. I haven't seen the movie enough to tell myself.
