The Blog's New Direction?

Hello all, I've been away for a bit and was preparing to come back to soundtrack blogging again. Due to some personal changes in my life, a new movie review site of mine, free time, and the crack down on the Megaupload file sharing site things have changed in how I want to move forward with the blog. Fellow friend and soundtrack blogger Long Island Ripper at the great "Inferno Music Crypt" has decided to lay low and stop posting soundtracks for the time being as are others in the OOP soundtrack community. Now the thing that I do want to make clear here is that he and I along with a section of soundtrack bloggers focused on the OOP (out-of-print) or never released soundtracks and songs that we had to hunt down and share amongst ourselves. I never would post anything that was commercially available through regular channels, as I want those artists and labels to get what they deserver for their hard work.

However, the powers that be I don't think will look at things in such a grey way, it will most likely be more black and white and I don't want to bring any trouble upon myself. So I'm not going to post any soundtracks for a bit and just hang back regarding those types of posts. I'm thinking perhaps still talk soundtracks, but also just expand the blog into a more jack of all trades when it comes to movies and music, toys, and such, but more in a discussion format and not making songs available this time. I can then branch out into other topics and make a bridge of sorts to my recently launched movie review site SideshowCinema.com.

I'm sure there will be many of you that will be sad to hear this news, but I do hope you stick around and see how it goes, and if it doesn't work for you oh well. Perhaps this is just the natural progression of things from my blog to the main site, which was my intention all along, but the blog did grow into something that connected with a lot of film buffs and music lovers.

hey fiji mermaid

just saw that you posted this new post. i wanted to let you know that i support your decision. i think it's best for all us soundtrack download bloggers to lay low for now. I have to admit this stuff is scary with SOPA and whatnot. But hopefully and my fingers are crossed that things will get better in time. I love doing my blog and i've met a lot of cool people thru it like your yourself. My blog will be 5 years old this August if it's still around. So as you can guess a part of me will be gone if the blog goes down. Here's hoping this craziness will cool down in the near future.

Good luck with your future plans for sideshow cinema, fiji. I'm willing to bet they will turn otu successful. :)

take care.

Ripper,

It's good to hear from you, I was going to post on your post as well saying I think you are making a good decision. It helped me to read what you had posted for your fans/readers and evaluate what I should do with my blog and it's focus.

Yeah, I agree about the SOPA/PIPA things in the air, and the crack down on Megaupload was just too much to ignore. I too hope as time passes that things will calm down and we can get back to giving people the music they can't get through regular retailers. I too love my blog and would agree there is some great people in this world of ours, you included. My blog turned 5 in November of 2011, so we're real close there. I wish you well too. I'll try to send you a personal email in the next day or so, so that we have a connection beyond the blogs if need be. Take Care and good luck to you too!
